Happy Birthday to Hershey the Dog
Today is my sweet puppy Hershey’s birthday! He is the best dog anyone could ever hope to have. Loyal, brave, kind, loving, companion. These are just a few words that describe my very best friend. So in honor of Hershey’s special day, I decided to pull out all the stops! Dog Cupcakes (Or as I like to call them, pupcakes) and frosty paw icecream, homemade doggy cookies and presents and treats galore. Nothing is too good for my sweet Hershey.
In this post though, I wanted to share with you my recipe for pupcakes complete with dog-approved frosting. Both of my dogs love these treats, especially the birthday boy! The pupcakes are flavored with pumpkin and peanut butter: two puppy dog favorites. And I decided to make them mini pupcakes for easy eating! The frosting is made with three simple ingredients: peanut butter, Greek yogurt and milk. Anything peanut butter is sure to be loved by my pups!
Now, onto the recipe!
Making the dog cupcakes
To make your own pupcakes, combine the whole wheat flour and baking soda in a mixing bowl. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, egg, oil and water. Next, gradually add the flour and baking soda into the rest of the ingredients and continue to mix until fully incorporated. Bake in a mini muffin pan for cute little cupcakes. Let cool completely before frosting.
To make the frosting just mix the peanut butter, Greek yogurt and milk. Transfer the icing to a piping bag fitted with a decorating tip. I used Wilton #32 tip. Pipe a small swirl of icing on top each cupcake and let your pup enjoy!
