Pizza dough is the foundation of every tasty and delicious pizza. And for a really amazing pizza, you can’t beat making your own homemade dough. As you come to perfect this recipe, you’ll realize it is far superior to crust you would buy at the store. Since pizza is such a popular food, it is the perfect go to choice for game nights, movie nights or even just weekday dinners.
One great thing about this pizza dough is that it comes together very quickly. You can mix the flour, sugar, yeast, salt, water and oil together in the bowl of a stand mixer. Fit the mixer with the dough hook attachment and let it do all the work! Once your dough is mixed, transfer it to a floured work surface and shape into a ball as show above. Place in a greased bowl, cover and let rise for 1 hour. Since the dough takes a little while to rise, it is the perfect time to make your own homemade pizza sauce. You can follow the link to my pizza sauce recipe that only takes about 20 minutes to make. And better yet, it makes the perfect amount of sauce for the dough you are making!
Once your dough has finished rising, use a rolling pin to roll it out on a floured work surface. Floured is in bold, it’s super important! Or else the dough will stick, and no one wants that.
This next step is very important: the pre-bake. In fact, it is so important I put it in big bold letters above! Transfer the dough to a pizza pan and bake in a preheated oven at 450° F. for 8 minutes. Then, take the dough out of the oven. Top with your pizza sauce, cheese and choice of pizza toppings, then return to the oven.
Continue to bake at 450° F. for about 20 more minutes, until the crust has started to really brown around the edges. Let cool for a few minutes before cutting. Don’t forget to get a quality pizza cutter! I can’t describe how annoying it is to make a pizza and find out you have no pizza cutter!
And lastly, (but certainly not leastly) this pizza also pairs really well with my recipe for the best ever buffalo wings!
