Here’s a refreshing frozen treat to help you beat the heat this summer! This Strawberry milkshake is so delicious and so easy to make. The heat was up in the 90’s again today which makes walking the dogs no fun at all. But my puppy dogs are so cute that they are worth braving the blazing heat for.
A Bit About My Pups
Here’s my little beach comber, Hershey. He loves to smell every last piece of seaweed washed up on the beach! My Hershey is half Chow Chow and half Labrador Retriever. So we have to make sure he doesn’t overheat! The Chow Chow in him is what makes him so incredibly furry, so we make sure to give him plenty of water and let him walk at his own pace.
Here we are at Long Sands Beach in Maine. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend you check out this beautiful beach. It is a very family friendly area, and also a great place to go as a couple!
And here is Spartacus, he loves to chase his Frisbee (and the seagulls!). He is a feisty and energetic Jack Russell Terrier. He needs so much exercise, that’s why we love to take him out to the beach!
So now you can see how my cute pups can keep me out in even the hottest of weather. But this strawberry milkshake recipe is a good way to cool down afterwards.
On to the strawberry milkshake!
If you are using fresh strawberries, make sure to thoroughly wash them first. Remove the stems and then place them on paper towels to dry. Once dry, place them in a ziploc freezer bag and remove as much air as possible. Place them in the freezer for about an hour or until completely frozen.
Once your strawberries are nice and frozen, transfer them to a blender. Add in the ice cream, milk and sugar and blend until smooth. This recipe makes a milkshake that’s nice and thick. If you’d prefer it to be a little bit thinner, just add additional milk 1 tbsp at a time until you’ve achieved your desired consistency. It’s important to only add a little at a time because you can always add more but you can’t add less!
Pour into a tall milkshake glass, top with whipped cream and enjoy. And trust me, you will enjoy it! This milkshake tastes like it came straight from a diner. It’s thick and creamy and completely delicious. Just don’t forget a straw! I always like to use the firm paper straws. They always look so pretty and can withstand the viscous milkshake without collapsing.
